It’s getting warmer outside in Alabama, which isn’t a pleasant thing for me. I prefer Fall and Winter, sweaters, blankets, and hot tea get my drift? However, because it’s getting warmer that does mean adjusting my wardrobe to fit the weather. As much as I would like it to be cooler, dressing in long sleeves won’t bring the Fall back.  So I took this opportunity to add some pieces to my wardrobe.

I work on a sort-of capsule wardrobe system. I don’t have a pre-set amount of pieces that I like to keep in my wardrobe. However, I like to keep my wardrobe concise. If I can’t get constant use from it, it doesn’t add value to my life and is therefore useless. Because of this principle, I got rid of a lot of clothes throughout the fall and winter and was in need of a few pieces to finish out my wardrobe.

I’m hoping this will give you some ideas of how to round out your wardrobe if you’re trying to do a revamp. Most of these pieces can be applied to any wardrobe, it’s not necessarily gendered, just tweak to fit your style!

Feel Good Items

The first thing I added were two sets of pajamas. I know what you’re thinking, “Why would I add something no one will see me in?” When I consider my wardrobe I consider all pieces. This means jewelry, purses, pajamas, whatever. Why? Because I never dress for anyone but myself so when I’m seeking a revamp, I’m looking for what will make me feel more complete.

So, with that being said, I got two sets of Pajamas. I cover this in my “What I’m Liking: ” post but essentially I wanted to feel more put together instead of walking around in old rate t-shirts all the time. I grew up with pajama sets and this is what I prefer and I just wanted to get back to that. So, I got these two sets(gray set & striped set) from Target in a major pajama clearance sale, since then prices have gone back up. However, another place I love to score good quality clothing is Lulu’s. In addition to quality, Lulu’s has more of the satin, lace types of PJ’s.  I’m currently eyeballing these black satin sleep shorts.

Bonus deal, if you use Ebates you can get an additional 1% cashback in addition to (lulus deals)!. (If you’re new to the idea of Ebates, you essentially sign up with them, shop with places they have programs with and get cashback!)

For guys or girls who prefer less feminine clothing, a nice comfortable sleeping set might be something for you to consider, if not I suggest at least grabbing pajama bottoms. You will be amazed at how comfortable sleeping in something that’s not basketball shorts can be. If you tend not to care what they look like, Walmart always has affordable options. Target will give you affordability and style and places like J.C. Penny and Macy’s will give you a little more style. Bonus, if you use Ebates you can get up to 8% cash back from J.C. Penny’s and 3% from Macy’s!

Outerwear

The next thing I would suggest adding is a sweater or cardigan that you can throw over anything. Not too thick but also that can provide some warmth. I grabbed this super cozy sweater/bomber jacket mix from Target. My husband’s go to is a gray checkered cardigan. It instantly makes his look a bit more put-together, even if he throws it over a white t-shirt. The major reason you’ll want this for Spring is because Spring has warm days and cold nights. This will allow you to bring something along if you’re going to be out all day that isn’t going to weigh you down. Spring Wardrobe

Bottoms

The next thing I added was a pair of jeans. Now, I personally was in need of some black jeans. I have a pair of blue jeans but I was rocking some cheap jeggings when I was in need of a black bottom and I just wanted a more quality option. I would suggest you see what staple pieces were missing from your bottoms and go for that. Do you have pants that can be dressed up or down? Do you only have slacks? See what you’re missing and fill in the gap. One pair of bottoms will give you loads of options. My personal favorite place, right now, to grab jeans is H&M, where I got these. They have a nice selection of sizes, and you can score good quality jeans for as low at $9.99 sometimes!   Spring Wardrobe

Tops

Next on the roster, I grabbed two button-down shirts. I wanted one on the casual side and one that could be dressed up or down. I got them both from Target! The first one I grabbed was the more versatile one, that can be found here. It’s this nice gray and white button down that it super soft and can be thrown on with some converse or a nice pair of heels. The other shirt I grabbed was this nice chambray shirt that is soft and breathable. It’s on the more casual side but can still feel put-together. I opted for two neutral options. First, it’s because I am me and me likes neutrals*kanye shrug* but also because they both can be paired with any bottoms or shoes that I own, so I get multiple outfits which is always an objective of mine.

The last clothing items I grabbed were two dresses. Keeping with the theme, I went for one more casual option and one that can be worn casually but also dressed up.  I got the black t-shirt dress as an everyday option, it’s breathable, comfortable and easy to accessorize. The other one I grabbed was this super smart navy and gray striped button down dress.

Neither of these is your typical spring dress but I was aiming to complete my wardrobe. I already have light colored dresses. If you’re trying to fill out your dress section of your closet, you can get the same types of dresses in the color schemes you prefer or need.

For the guys, I would suggest getting something equivalent to a throw on t-shirt. One of the quality ones, not the ones that come in multi-packs. The type of shirt you can throw on with just a pair of jeans or you can accessorize and dress up. You always want to get the most function from your clothing so instead of buying particular pieces for particular events, aim to get multifunctional pieces instead.

Accessories

The last two things I grabbed were some sandals to take me through spring and summer. I didn’t have any sandals or flats! I had dwindled down to tennis shoes and boots and that was not going to cut it in this humid Alabama heat. So I got a brown pair and a black pair. These were affordable and they are comfortable. I picked them up from Target.

The reason the bulk of my things came from Target is 1) the affordability 2) they constantly have sales and 3) Cartwheel! If you can catch a good Cartwheel promotion and sale at the same time you can easily rack up on clothing. But don’t forget to shop around! Like I said, J.C. Penny’s and Macy’s have great deals if you’re looking for a particular thing.

Either way, hopefully, this post provides a bit of inspiration to get your wardrobe back on track for the warm weather!
