Hygiene routines are hard. Whether you’re dealing with a chronic illness, depressed, or hungover, we’ve all had times when we just couldn’t be bothered to get out the bed. Look, I’m not judging, I was stuck in bed for like a week last month, it was rough. But, there are some things that we tend to neglect while we’re in bed like our hygiene routine, our beauty routine, or our hair. We forget to move around a bit, drink our water, and try to be productive. It happens. But, I would not be a good friend if I didn’t let you in on my little secrets to help deal with these things!

Okay, so as you can see from the title, in this post I’ll be sharing what I use when I can’t get up and wash my face or other beauty-related things. I keep these six items in a basket next to my bed within reach.

First things first, the products are NOT expensive. Most of these items are around the $5 mark. So, one of the most useful ones is going to be the body wipes. Body wipes can refresh you and make you feel so much better. I like the e.l.f. ones because they are specifically created for active people after the gym so they work well in cleansing and leave you smelling fresh. These can be used on your skin and underarms, not private bits. After you wipe your underarms, pop on a fresh layer of deodorant.

Next, face wipes. The face wipes are essential for me, nothing makes me feel grosser than when my face is oily. Having these does wonders. They clean your face, remove makeup, and wipe away the tears. (JK, stay strong friends). Now face wipes can dry you out a bit and keeping your skin and body hydrated will always make you feel better.

After the face wipes, I follow up with my toner and then the e.l.f. hydrating coconut face mist. This spray feels so good and is lightweight. Now, I’m a bit extra when it comes to hydrating because I have oily skin. My skin doesn’t act up as much when it’s hydrated. So, after the coconut mist, I follow up with the e.l.f. hydrating drops. For me, I’ve always had a good experience with e.l.f. products but most of these have similar versions in other brands. I end with my sunscreen. SPF EVERY DAY is the only way folks. My personal brand is Cervae with added moisturizer. It doesn’t leave a white residue.

So now that your skin is glowing, and your underarms are smelling good, let’s tackle that mouth. Obviously, if you’re really stuck in bed ( sometimes I need physical assistance to get out of bed), you can’t brush your teeth at the sink. Colgate and other brands make these small disposable mini toothbrushes that you don’t need water for. Personally, I’ve enjoyed the Colgate ones more. I typically use natural toothpaste and these don’t feel too icky to me. You simply brush and throw it away.

Hopefully, by this point, you’re feeling a little better or at least a little less gross. It can be quite disheartening for those of us who depend on other people so much to also not be able to do basic things for ourselves. Personally, learning to deal with my chronic illness threw me through a loop because I was VERY independent. Being able to do this simple routine makes me feel like I’m in charge of myself again. I’ll cover my hair routine and some other topics later on but I hope this helps someone out because it’s been great for me.

Best,
