Hi! I’m Courtnee, a historian turned recipe developer living in Birmingham, AL. I was born in Alabama, not in Birmingham, but Birmingham is my home through and through. I adore this city; it is overflowing with hidden gems and history.
So, what’s going on here? When I began this blog I was in that place in life where I was post-college, pre-most everything else. That place when people constantly ask you “So what now?” you begin asking yourself “So, what now? So, this was an outlet to figure out the ‘now’.
I am an egregiously introverted person who likes to share with people when I learn from an experience so that we can all benefit. I also enjoy hosting my hand-picked lot of friends and family, and more importantly, cooking and baking for them. Then promptly sending them home and digging into whatever book I’m reading.
So, I thought it best to create a blog. Here I can share tasks you’ve been wanting to learn about, delicious recipes, or my opinions on my latest read. We can share, discuss, and figure it all out together.
I have been teaching, and learning, in some capacity for over 15 years. From tutoring to teaching, I have been dissecting and dispersing information in a more digestible way since I can imagine, eventually turning it into a career. I began baking at the age of three in my grandmother’s kitchen and quickly became the primary baker and cook in my family. Ten years ago, with my experience of breaking down and sharing information, I began sharing my personal recipes.
This is a platform where I have combined all of my passions and skills to create a space to learn from and to commune, judgment-free. More importantly, it’s a community, and nothing brings a community together like a delicious meal or a good book, in my experience.
Figuring Out Now’s purpose is to share all the information I can to help us all find a place that is helpful and hopeful. It’s also a place for me to share things that bring me pleasure with the hope of bringing you the same. Thank you for stopping by and joining in the discussion. I hope you stick around!
